Supporting the creation of a new library in Airdrie isn't just about books; it's about sparking ideas and exploring them together. When we donate, we're not only funding a building, we're fuelling inspiration. It's our way of giving back to a community that means so much to us, and keeping Airdrie a community where curiosity and learning can thrive!

Airdrie Public Library is DOUBLING its collection and we need your help to raise $1.5 Million to "Stuff the Stacks" in the new library!

The new Airdrie Public Library space will open in the new multi-use facility downtown in 2025. As our the library grows to more than three times its current size, we need to expand our collection of shared materials and resources from 80,000 to 160,000 items. To expand the collection, we need to raise $1.5 million by 2025 for the grand opening of the new space.

Why Double the Collection?

Expanding the content that is available in the APL collections is about so much more than books on shelves. It adds new perspectives and diverse points of view on thousands of topics. It creates a greater depth of information available to kids and adults alike, encouraging them to be lifelong learners. And, as Airdrie continues to grow, an expanded collection meets greater demand for materials that cater to varied interests and needs.

Libraries are community hubs. They are places for people to gather, to learn, and to grow. The Airdrie Public Library supports the educational needs of students. An expanded collection also protects intellectual freedom and the ability to access information from multiple sources. It helps us to preserve the cultural heritage of Airdrie while also adding resources to learn about the expanding cultural mosaic that is the foundation of our community.

Our expanded collection is about enhancing the Airdrie Public Library's ability to support a growing, knowledge hungry community.

Did you know that $1.5 million for 80,000 new resources equals about $20 per item?

Supporting our library is an investment in our community's heart and soul. Libraries are more than just buildings; they are the meeting place where people from all walks of life gather, a boundless source of knowledge and resources, and a vibrant space where learning and fun intersect.
